Challenge

Every Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) needs consistency to deliver its best potential. But when record gold prices and multiple big-ticket cricket tournaments dominate popular sentiment, it calls for a campaign that uses clever contextualization to continue owning the conversation around SIP. The season also coincided with a phenomenon unique to the Indian Mutual Fund market – SIP stoppage ratio for the industry stood at 97.6% in April 2026

A positive play

We spent time mapping the prevailing emotions for our client, Tata Mutual Fund’s customers, to arrive at the core insight for the campaign – despite trusting their decision to SIP, investors appreciate positive endorsement from those they love and trust during periods of high socio-political anxiety.

The campaign, ‘Sahi Khelo, SIP Karo’ spoke to this deep investor need at two levels. First, we borrowed a metaphor from a sport they highly value; encouraging the opportunity to play it right when it comes to investing in mutual funds. Second, every campaign asset showcased dialogue between decision-makers and those they trust.

Scoring big on relatability

A video-first and YouTube-led campaign, ‘Sahi Kehlo, SIP Karo’ saw three films drawing from relatable cricketing analogies. Each of them reinforced SIP principles by contextualizing top decision-making scenarios:
Consistency: Just like a batsman can score a century by continuously taking 1s and 2s, a wife who has completed her 100th SIP contribution, is showing having an interaction with her husband against the backdrop of a joint family.

Income Surplus: An interaction between a nuclear couple depicts the husband investing his extra bank balance to initiate a SIP. His inspiration? The batsman who picks up extra runs by pushing the ball into fielding gaps.

Lumpsum Investments: Just like a six at the right time can help a batsman win a match, a brother chooses to invest his car sale proceeds into SIP and shares his decision with his older sibling.

“We were clear from the start that this wasn’t just a season-specific campaign. This is the 3rd campaign in a series of SIP campaigns we have delivered for the brand, thereby allowing it to own the conversations around mutual fund investments. While we leveraged the ongoing sentiment of sport lovers across the country, the narrative spoke focused on influencing long-term mind sets and habits. Every aspect of the storytelling, including the main protagonist engaging in positive SIP behaviour while receiving appreciation and endorsements from key family members, was aligned to this larger goal. Similarly, each of the campaign films integrated everyday situations that investors across demographics but belonging to metros and Tier I cities would find relatable.”
